2012-2013 ChemE Car team with their regional awards


The 2012-2013 ChemE Car team took two cars to their regional competiton in Norman, OK last spring. The team took home 1st and 3rd in the poster competition, 3rd and 4th in car performance, and 3rd overall as a university. The team qualified for national competition and will travel to San Francisco this fall.

The Chemical Engineering Car (ChemE Car) is a shoe-box sized car that is powered by a chemical reaction. Chemical Engineering students of all levels contribute through their knowledge of chemical reactions, physics, and thermodynamics. The competition requires a payload of water up to 500mL to run a distance between 50 and 100 feet within two minutes.
